"As the parent of a 17 year old with special needs, I desperately wish I could tell every parent of a younger child that I meet to remain hopeful and keep trying. While her earlier therapists, teachers and doctors encouraged us to stop therapies, academic pursuits and interventions and "focus on life skill training", my intuition told me we werent ready to move on yet. It wasnt always easy to find enthusiastic, flexible and creative therapists and teachers willing to work with an older child, but my persistence paid off. As a result, Anna Kate has made more progress since she turned 12 than she did in the years before! Today, she is still learning, still meeting therapy goals, and creating a full and meaningful life for herself. I am so happy we didnt decide when she was 8 or 9 that "this is as good as it gets."

"Our son Michael has been participating in Music Therapy with Jennifer for almost 3 years. It has been amazing to see his transformation. Michael was diagnosed with CP at 3 months old and eventually Autism. Michael struggled with language, sensory processing and motor movements. Michael has always responded positively to singing, music and rhythmic activities. My husband and I would sit in awe at all the modalities music therapy encompassed. Jennifer would have Michael using both hands at midline playing a xylophone, strumming a guitar isolating one finger at a time or she would give him deep pressure and sensory input whenever he needed it. Jennifer just got it and followed Michaels interests and strengths.

It was so beautiful to see Michael dance with scarves, feel the deep beat of the drum or ask for the cabassa on his feet. Michael became more vocal the more he experienced with the variety of music he heard, felt, touched and moved to. Michael said his name for the 1st time with Jennifer and I think we all cried and cheered. Now it is amazing to see. Michael greets Jennifer (with great eye contact) and takes her straight to his room to play his keyboard. They carry on amazing discussions, he trusts her and lets her in his space and tell her he loves her. How can this happen? Having a therapist that believes in a child's potential, follows their natural interests and strengths and has fun. Michael now at age 4 plays the keyboard and has a huge appreciation for a variety of musical genre. He loves Jazz, Rock, Classical and Bluegrass. He feels the music in his soul and it comes out in language, dance and a very happy face!!!! Music therapy has been the greatest gift to our child and we will forever be so thankful for all Jennifer has done for our child."

We could never have imagined just how much music therapy would help our son, Gavin. The songs and instruments fill him with so much joy, and the improvements in speech and listening are phenominal.

Through music therapy we are able to use Justin's love of music to motivate him to accomplish physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech goals. For example, he loves playing the guitar, which encourages him to open his hand and use it to strum the guitar. If he wants to play more guitar, he has to make a vocalization. Music Therapy has worked wonders for Justin."
